Hardscape on a lake-country property has to solve problems most yards do not have. Pine roots push through anything laid too shallow. Shade keeps surfaces damp longer, which is hard on some materials. Sandy ground shifts under loads it was not prepared for, and drainage that works in the open can stall under a canopy where the ground stays wet. We build outdoor spaces for woodland reality: compacted, drained base work, root planning, and surfaces chosen for the way a shaded lake-area property actually lives.
Mora Property Service builds hardscape and outdoor living spaces across Emory and the surrounding area. Call 903-279-1868 to plan yours.
Patios and walkways in Emory
Emory patios are built in concrete, pavers, and natural stone, shaped around how you actually use the yard: table, fire, grill, or all three. Walkways connect the patio to house, drive, and lawn so traffic stops cutting through the grass and litter. Under all of it goes compacted, drained base engineered for sandy subgrade, so it stays level season after season.
Retaining walls and grade work
Sloped lots are common around the lake country, and water always wins against a slope that is not managed. Retaining walls hold grade where it needs holding, turn hillsides into usable flat space, and stop soil from washing toward foundations and drives. We build timber, block, and stone walls with drainage designed in, because a wall without drainage is a wall with a countdown on it.
Outdoor living spaces
Emory’s long seasons are made for outdoor living, and we build the pieces that make people stay outside: fire pits and fireplaces, seating walls, pergolas and shade structures, and outdoor kitchens where the property supports them. Under the pines, a covered or screened structure often gets used more than an open patio, and we plan for the shade, the needles, and the way lake-country evenings actually go.
Water features and lighting
Fountains, ponds, and small recirculating features add sound and movement that make a space feel finished, and low-voltage lighting doubles the hours you get out of the yard: path lights for safety, uplights that turn trees and walls into features, and patio lighting that keeps gatherings going past sunset. On wooded properties, lighting also makes steps and grades safer after dark, and we design systems that can be added to later instead of replaced.
Commercial and hospitality hardscape
Small commercial properties, lodges, and rental cabins use hardscape for entries, courtyards, and gathering spaces that hold up to guest traffic. Installs are quoted for durability and low maintenance, and they can be scheduled alongside a property contract.
Building for East Texas ground
Lake-country soil shifts with the weather, and tree roots ignore property lines. We build with expansion joints, the right setting methods, root barriers where needed, and drainage that moves water away from the work. It is the invisible half of hardscaping, and the half that decides how the space looks in ten years.
