Hardscape & Outdoor Living in Point, Texas

Hardscape on a lakeside property has to solve problems most yards do not have. Sandy ground shifts under loads it was not prepared for. Shoreline grade means water is always trying to move toward the lake, and anything built without drainage designed in will help it. Tree roots push through anything laid too shallow, and shade keeps surfaces damp longer than they would be in the open. We build outdoor spaces for lakeside reality: compacted, drained base work, shoreline-aware grade, and surfaces chosen for the way a property on the water actually lives.

Lakeside patios and walkways in Point

We build patios in concrete, pavers, and natural stone, sized and shaped around how you actually use the yard: room for a table, a fire, a grill, and the traffic that comes with lake weekends. Walkways connect the patio to the house, the drive, the dock path, and the lawn so people stop wearing paths through the grass. Under all of it goes compacted, drained base work engineered for sandy subgrade, so surfaces stay level through wet seasons and dry ones.

Retaining walls and grade work

Sloped lots are the rule around Lake Tawakoni, and water always wins against a slope that is not managed. Retaining walls hold grade where it needs holding, turn hillsides into usable flat space, and manage how water moves toward the shoreline. We build timber, block, and stone walls with drainage designed in, because a wall without drainage is a wall with a countdown on it, especially on a bank.

Outdoor living spaces

Point’s long seasons are made for outdoor living, and we build the pieces that make people stay outside: fire pits and fireplaces, seating walls, pergolas and shade structures, and outdoor kitchens where the property supports them. On lake properties, the outdoor space often becomes the center of the whole place, and we build it to hold up to dockside traffic and weather alike.

Water features and lighting

Fountains, ponds, and small recirculating features add sound and movement that make a space feel finished, and low-voltage lighting doubles the hours you get out of the yard: path lights for safety, uplights that turn trees and walls into features, and patio lighting that keeps gatherings going past sunset. On lake properties, lighting also makes dock paths and grades safer after dark, and we design systems that can be added to later instead of replaced.

Commercial and hospitality hardscape

Point’s small commercial properties, lodges, and rental cabins use hardscape for entries, courtyards, and gathering areas that hold up to guest traffic. Installs are quoted for durability and low maintenance and can be scheduled alongside a property contract.

Building for East Texas ground

The local soil moves with the weather, and shoreline grade moves with the water. We build with expansion joints, the right setting methods for each material, root barriers where they are needed, and drainage that moves water away from the work instead of under it. It is the part of hardscaping nobody photographs and the part that determines whether the space still looks new in ten years.

Hardscape work in Point: what we build

Point hardscape works where the lake meets the land — on slopes that run down to Lake Tawakoni, where the build carries an extra job most properties never face: shoreline protection. Patios, walkways, and structures are placed on grades that move, and walls often double as bank stabilization. The ground is acid sandy soil that drains fast, so base work focuses on compaction, edge restraint, and drainage that protects the bank rather than cutting it.

Patios and walkways on lakeside lots

We build patios in concrete, pavers, and natural stone, sized around how the property is used and oriented for shade, sun, and the view. Walkways connect the patio to the house, drive, and dock path so traffic stops wearing paths through the grass. On slope, base details are engineered per grade — level surfaces on moving ground is the whole craft.

Shade structures for lakefront summers

A pergola or covered patio is what makes the space usable through summer, and on lakefront lots the structure also frames the view it shades. We build them sized to the yard in materials that handle exposure and wind off the water, placed to block the afternoon west sun without blocking the water.

Retaining walls and shoreline protection in Point

On lakeside slopes, walls do double duty: holding grade and protecting the bank from undercutting. We build timber, block, and stone walls with drainage designed in from the start — and on shoreline lots the wall is engineered for water, not just soil, because a bank wall that fails takes the bank with it.

The base work that makes it last

Excavation, compacted aggregate, correct setting methods, expansion joints, and drainage that moves water away from the work: on acid sandy ground and slope, the drainage details matter as much as the compaction. Every surface is detailed for the grade it sits on — flat lots get one treatment, banks get another, and the walkthrough decides which.

Outdoor living design at the lake

A hardscape is a room, and at the lake it is the room with the view. We design it like one: cooking, seating, and fire zones oriented to the water; circulation that works on slope; vertical elements that give it shape without blocking the reason for the property. The layout is reviewed before anything is built.

The Point build calendar

Spring and fall are ideal for concrete work, summer pours need early starts and shade, and winter is fine for pavers and walls but slow for water-dependent finishes. On rental and weekend properties, builds are timed to bookings, so the grounds are ready when guests arrive rather than mid-project.

What a Point hardscape costs

Four inputs set the number: square footage, materials, site conditions (slope, access, demo), and details — walls, structures, features, lighting. On shoreline lots, bank and wall work often leads the line items — a patio on a failing bank is a temporary answer. We quote in clear stages.

Common Point hardscape problems we solve

The recurring ones: patios settling on slope; pavers rocking after a wet season; water pooling against structures; banks undercutting behind walls without drainage; and structures placed where the sun makes them useless. Each is a base-work or layout problem first — and on shoreline lots, the diagnosis includes the bank.

Point hardscape questions we hear

Does the build include the bank? When the slope needs it, bank protection is scoped from the walkthrough. Can builds avoid rental bookings? Yes — timed to the calendar. Can the project be staged? Yes — patio first, structures later.
