Point landscapes are lakeside landscapes, and the water sets the terms. Shoreline properties deal with erosion, runoff, and the way a lake property is viewed: from the house, from the water, and from the neighbor’s dock. Acid sandy soil under the pines will burn anything that wants sweet ground, and deep shade will starve anything that wants full sun. The reward is a garden that frames the lake, holds its bank, and looks intentional from every angle people actually see it. The landscapes that thrive here are built for the shoreline and the soil, and that is how we design them.

The design process in Point
Design starts with a walk of the property: how the light moves through the canopy, where water goes when it rains, what the soil is doing, and how the property gets used. On waterfront lots, the walk includes the shoreline: how the bank is holding, where runoff enters the lake, and what the view needs from the house side.
From there comes a planting plan for shoreline living: bed shapes that work with the lot, species for open sun and acid lakeside soil, mature sizes, and every material specified. The plan is approved before ordering.
Installation that lasts under canopy and on the water
Installation is where landscapes succeed or fail. Beds get cut clean, acid soil gets amended, and plants go in at the right depth and spacing for their mature size. Mulch goes down to hold moisture without smothering roots. We install trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and shade perennials chosen to handle Point’s woodland light, humidity, and soil: hydrangeas, hollies, magnolias, yaupon, ferns, and native selections that look at home in the pines.
Shoreline planting and erosion control
A lake bank that is not planted moves every storm, and once it starts, it keeps going. We address shoreline erosion with plantings that hold soil, ground covers that knit the bank, and grading that manages where water enters. It is practical work that protects the property and the water at the same time, and it can look like a garden while it does it.
Privacy plantings and screening
Screening requests are constant on the Point peninsula: a neighbor, a road, a rental next door. Privacy plantings follow their own rules here, evergreen or dense enough to work year-round, fast enough to matter, and spaced so they never crowd the fence or foundation at maturity. The result reads as landscape, not a hedge wall.
Commercial and hospitality landscapes
Point’s small commercial properties, lodges, and rental cabins use landscape design for entries, courtyards, and color rotations that survive guest traffic. Installs are quoted for durability and low maintenance, and they can fold into your property contract.
After the install
Shoreline plantings live on their first season. We set watering schedules for the open-sun beds, and clients can pair installation with maintenance so the crew that built them keeps them.
