Yantis landscapes get to work with the lake. A waterfront garden frames the view from the house and the view from the water, holds its bank, and looks intentional from the dock. A rural tract has room for the big moves: a drive that arrives, a windbreak on the west side, and plantings that frame the house from the road. Acid sandy soil under the pines still sets the rules for what will grow, and the reward is a palette most East Texas towns cannot offer: hydrangeas, azaleas, and dogwoods do beautifully here when they are placed right. The landscapes that thrive in Yantis are built for the water, the soil, and the light.

The design process in Yantis
Design starts with a walk of the property: how the light moves through the canopy, where water goes when it rains, what the soil is doing, and how the property gets used. On waterfront lots, the walk includes the shoreline: how the bank is holding, where runoff enters the lake, and what the view needs from both sides.
From there you get a planting plan for lakefront ground: bed shapes, selections for each exposure, sizes at maturity, and materials for mulch, edging, and hardscape connections. Nothing is ordered until you approve.
Installation that lasts under canopy and on the water
Installation is where landscapes succeed or fail. Beds get cut clean, acid soil gets amended, and plants go in at the right depth and spacing for their mature size. Mulch goes down to hold moisture without smothering roots. We install trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and shade perennials chosen to handle Yantis’s woodland light, humidity, and soil: hydrangeas, azaleas, hollies, magnolias, yaupon, ferns, and native selections that look at home in the pines.
Shoreline planting and erosion control
An unplanted lake bank moves with every storm, and once erosion starts it accelerates. We address it with plantings that hold soil, ground covers that knit the bank, and grading that controls where water enters the lake. It protects the property and the water at once, and it can look like a garden while it does it.
Windbreaks, screening, and rural design
On larger tracts, the most valuable plantings are often the big ones: windbreaks that soften the west sun and winter wind, screens that block the view from the road, and tree groupings that frame the house from the drive. These are their own discipline: the right species for the purpose, planted where they do not crowd what comes later, and spaced to look intentional rather than planted.
Commercial and hospitality landscapes
Small commercial properties, marinas, and rental cabins use landscape design for entries, courtyards, and seasonal color rotations that hold up to guest traffic. Commercial installs are quoted for durability and low maintenance, and they can be folded into your property contract.
After the install
Lakefront beds get one first season to establish. We set watering schedules for the ground they sit in, and you can pair installation with maintenance so the same crew follows through.
